FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the home staging course take to complete?

The course may take 12 - 26 weeks to complete depending on your experience, current level of expertise at the start and also the number of hours each week that you can dedicate to working through the modules. Timescale  is totally flexible and is dictated by you.    

For those with experience who wish to gain the CHSSP Certification its possible to fast track through, submit examples of work from your portfolio and customer testimonials and be awarded the chssp 'Certified Home Staging and Styling Professional' Certificate and chssp logo for your use on business documentation.

 Is there a time limit on completing the home staging course?

No.  You can take as long as you need. The pack is designed to remain current.  The resources are available online as long as you need them and will be updated from time to time.  

What sections are there in the Course Manual?

The CHSSP Home Staging Course includes 8 Modules

 

Module 1.      Getting Started and Self Assessment

Module 2.      Home Staging and styling

Module 3.      Building a home staging and styling portfolio of work

Module 4.      Property Market awareness

Module 5.      Customer liaison and project management

Module 7.      Marketing a Home Staging Business

What course work is involved?

Each of the 8 Modules above has a practical Brief within it.  Each Module Brief guides you through the process of acquiring and practicing the skills required and setting up a home staging and styling business. So for Module 3 Building a home staging portfolio, for instance, the course book explains how to find projects to work on, what to do, how to take before and after photographs and how to develop a home staging portfolio of work to show to prospective clients.

I live outside the UK - can I still order the course?

Yes additional postage is charged at £15.00 to cover International postage.a new invoice     

How do I send in course work? 

Submit work by email or post.

The assessments and Module Brief templates are available as downloadable documents. If  you have Microsoft word its simple to complete the work online and return as an attachment in an email. 

Alternatively produce in hard copy and post it to us. 

The course materials explain in detail how and when to send things in.

When do I send work in?

1.   Complete the first Self assessment questionnaire and submit to register the course

2.   Complete the first Module Assessment and submit

3.   Complete all other course work and submit as you complete each stage.

The dates are according to your self set timetable.

What does the first Module Assessment involve?

The Action plan report exercise provides 40 photos on DVD of a property requiring home staging. You are given the clients brief and asked to imagine a walkthrough and produce your recommendations in a summary report format. When you return the Action plan exercise template you will be sent the actual Action plan for the property plus guidance and suggestions for improving your Action plan.  

What home staging property case studies are shown on the DVD's?

·     Case study 1:    An Edwardian terrace house

·         Case study 2:    A new build show home

·         Case study 3:    A detached 3 bed family house with annexe

·         Case study 4:    A 20 yr old 2 bed bungalow

Do I receive anything in the post?

Yes, the majority of the course pack is in the form of a paper based manual in a ring binder which includes 8 Modules and The Property Buying and Selling Guide, Marketing Guide, Scale drawing Guide, Homeowners Staging Guide and The Home Staging and Property Styling Guide.  In addition there are 2 DVD's and 1 CD ROM and a colour wheel. 

Everything is posted to you after payment is received. 

This is not a course provided in instalments - you receive everything immediately to work through at your leisure and dip in and out of the parts you need the most.  

What are the document templates?

There are 47 document and stationery templates, some to help you with the coursework. Some are for the course work assessments. Most are for your business use for a home staging and styling business.  

There are optional downloadable documents to complete the assessments which require Microsoft Word on your PC.  Or you can use the paper based versions supplied or print out as required. 

Is the fee for the course a one off payment?

Yes. The course work provides the information and guidance to support the whole process of starting, growing and running a successful home staging and styling business.
